Ash Capital Projects are proud to present the newly refurbished music room at Berger Primary School in Hackney — a transformed classroom now designed to inspire creativity and learning through music.
This project began with essential structural works following the discovery of rotten laminated roof panels beneath the existing first-floor area. Working during the school summer holidays, we carefully removed the affected structure and rebuilt the roof from the joists up, installing new structural steelwork and timbers to create a safe, robust platform for the new classroom above.
Once the structural works were complete, we constructed the new music room in its entirety — a bespoke teaching space designed to support the school’s creative curriculum.
The new music room was fitted out with a focus on light, performance and functionality. Large roof lights were installed to flood the space with natural daylight, while sleek aluminium-framed windows offered improved acoustic control and energy efficiency. A new interactive board was also installed to enhance the learning environment for both pupils and staff.
Externally, we overclad the adjacent curved balcony with a modern and durable finish, visually linking the classroom to the wider school setting and improving the building’s overall appearance.
Delivered in a live school environment, the project required precise coordination and tight programme control. All major structural works were completed within the six-week summer break, with classroom finishes completed shortly after term resumed. Our team worked closely with the school to ensure safety, minimise disruption, and hand over each phase ready for immediate use.
The result is a high-quality, purpose-built space that now supports imagination, expression, and musical learning — a standout addition to Berger Primary School’s learning environment.
